A Christian-oriented screamo quintette with some rap music and nu metallic element influences, blessthefall started in Phoenix, AZ, when aged high friends Mike and Matt (yes, this is one of those bands whose members only use their commencement name vocation) began practicing together in 2002. Guitarist Mike and drummer Matt found isaac Merrit Singer Craig and bassist Jared on the local baby-band circuit and formed blessthefall in early 2004. Following a self-released three-song presentation in the summer of 2005, guitar player Eric completed the net lineup of the band. An increased local live presence, including many shows played with dude Phoenicians Greeley Estates, brought blessthefall to the attending of Greeley Estates' label, Science Records (an imprint of Record Collection), which signed the still for the most part adolescent dance band in 2006. Shows with bands wish Norma Jean and Alesana followed earlier blessthefall's debut album, His Last Walk, surfaced in April 2007.

Clipse Make Sunshiny Bid for Song of the Summer

The summer sun seems to have penetrated even the pissed off perma-haze that surrounds Clipse. “Fast Life,” apparently the first single off the upcoming official Re-Up Gang album, is a seasonally driven celebration of easy-livin’. Well, almost — even over Scott Storch’s skittery synths, straight out of a Lamborghini cruising down South Beach, the Brothers Thornton still indulge in some coke talk: “Tell the Feds to take mo’ pictures, I smile for the cameras / My niggas hold keys like janitors.”

Gong slowly came together in the recent '60s when Australian guitar player Daevid Allen (ex-Soft Machine) began making music with his married woman, isaac Bashevis Singer Gilli Smyth, on with a shifty lineup of supporting musicians. Albums from this geological period include Magick Brother, Mystic Sister (1969) and the impromptu wad seance Bananamoon (1971) featuring Robert Wyatt from the Soft Machine, Gary Wright from Spooky Tooth, and Maggie Bell. A unwavering lineup featuring Frenchman Didier Malherbe (saxophone and reeds), Christian Tritsch (bass part), and Pip Pyle (drums) on with Allen (glissando guitar, vocals) and Gilli Smyth (space whispering vocals) was officially named Gong and released Camembert Electrique in late 1971, as comfortably as providing the soundtrack to the cinema Continental Circus and music for the album Obsolete by French poet Dashiel Hedayat.

Camembert Electrique contained the number 1 signs of the band's mythology of the peaceable Planet Gong populated by Radio Gnomes, Pothead Pixies, and Octave Doctors. These characters on with Zero the Hero ar the focal point of Gong's next three albums, the Radio Gnome Trilogy, consisting of Fast Teapot (1973), Angel's Egg (1974), and You (1975). On these albums, agonist Zero the Hero is a space traveller from Earth wHO gets mazed and finds the Planet Gong, is taught the slipway of that humankind by the gnomes, pixies, and Octave Doctors and is sent back to Earth to spread the word around this mystic planet. The band themselves adoptive nicknames -- Allen was Bert Camembert or the Dingo Virgin, Smyth was Shakti Yoni, Malherbe was Bloomdido Bad de Grasse, Tritsch was the Submarine Captain and Pyle the Heap. Over the course of action of the trilogy, Tritsch and Pyle left and were replaced by Mike Howlett (bass part) and Pierre Moerlen (drums). New members Steve Hillage (guitar) and Tim Blake (synthesizers) linked.

After You, Allen, Hillage, and Smyth left the chemical group referable to originative differences as advantageously as tiredness. Guitarist Allen Holdsworth linked and the ring drifted into virtuosic if uninventive jazz spinal fusion. Hillage and Allen each released various solo albums and Smyth formed Mothergong. Nevertheless the trilogy lineup has reunited for a few one-off concerts including a 1977 French concert documented on the splendid Tam-tam Est Mort, Vive Gong album. Allen too reunited with Malherbe and Pyle as well as other musicians he had collaborated with over the years for 1992's Shapeshifter record album. Hillage too worked as the ambient-techno false name System 7. A number of Gong-related bands feature existed over the geezerhood, including Mothergong, Gongzilla, Pierre Moerlin's Gong, NY Gong, Planet Gong, and Gongmaison. During the new millennium Gong material continued to be released, including Live 2 Infinitea issued in come down 2000, as comfortably as legion reissues. I Am Your Egg appeared in 2006 from United States of Distribution.

Ananda Shankar, nephew of world-famous sitar player, Ravi Shankar, never quite matched the success of his uncle, only made a important impact in the '70s psychedelic resistance scene by combination Western electronics and Indian music to create instrumental jams and moody soundtracks. The boy of famed classical dancers caught the entertainment industry bug in the late '60s and traveled to Los Angeles, where he played with rock musicians (including Jimi Hendrix) at the elevation of the psychedelic movement. At long time 27, he sign-language a apportion with Reprise Records world Health Organization released his debut self-titled album; a coalition cult classic that combined Hindustani music with psych-rock and included sitar-heavy versions of "Jumping Jack Flash" and "Light My Fire." After inadequate Stateside record gross sales, Shankar returned to India and began constructing 1975's Ananda Shankar and His Music, a blend of savage funk beats, keyboards, and traditional Indian instruments. From 1978 to 1981, he recorded cinque conceptual records: Republic of India Remembers Elvis (Indian versions of Elvis standards), A Musical Discovery of India (an enterprise financed by the Indian tourist board), Missing You (a dedication to his parents), the space-themed 2001, and the jungle safari-tinged Sá-Re-Gá Machán. In the mid-'90s, a new generation of DJs and musicians plant an abundance of samples in his discography, and when Blue Note released the 1996 compilation album Risque Juice, Vol. 1 which featured two of his dance tracks, "Streets of Calcutta" and "Terpsichore Drums," a reawakened interest in his music light-emitting diode to a tour-slot in Peter Gabriel's Womad festival and some other aboard Asian turntablist DJ State of Bengal. This collaboration resulted in 2000s Walking On, featuring Shankar's sitar virtuosity motley with bachelor launchpad breakbeats and trip-hop. Sadly, he never byword the sack of the album, due to a sudden nub attack at eld 56. In 2007, Fallout Records reissued Ananda Shankar and His Music, with Sá-Re-Gá Machán with India Remembers Elvis tacked on as bonus tracks.
